Beggar's Lane

Pudu Wai Sek Kai
Jalan Sayur, Pudu
55100 Kuala Lumpur
Coordinates: 3.135173, 101.713090

I was in the area a few weeks ago on a work related matter, and an acquaintance suggested we have dinner here. Officially known as Jalan Sayur in Pudu (near Pudu Plaza), I had no idea a gem of a place (the locals call it Wai Sek Kai or Hawker Eat Street) existed. It’s a street that hosts an array of food stalls at night.

I told Cat about the place and she was equally eager to give it a try. We took the LRT and disembarked at the Pudu station. It was a rainy evening and the streets were soggy. After taking in the sights we settled on a stall at the end of the lane which had arranged chairs and tables in front of a shop house (providing relief from the drizzle).

We found this stall at the end of the lane

We placed our orders and waited patiently

Preparing our meals

Brendan had sweet & sour pork

Cat had hokkien mee

I had fried rice with lap cheong

There are plenty of stalls begging to be explored. We will definitely come back!

UPDATE: We've not been here in a while as we think this place has lost its initial appeal (reasonably priced dishes) and feel that the general pricing of food here is something a beggar can no longer afford.
