Medan Selera 113 Food Court

Medan Selera 113 Food Court
Jalan Merdeka

We stumbled upon this food court while searching for the elusive Ampang Orchard View Yong Tau Foo. A group of Bangladeshis operated a car wash within the premises, which is very convenient and timely as Gwen was in need of a bath.

It’s pretty quiet in the daytime here and despite more than twenty stalls here, only the mixed rice and chicken rice stalls were open for business. No matter, since we were not looking for anything fancy plus Gwen was getting washed.

along Jalan Merdeka, slow down or you'll miss the entrance

pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon

As the name suggests, the aptly named Economy Rice stall priced their dishes very reasonably. Cat and I had mixed rice with two main dishes and some veggies, and it came up to only RM8.50! We noticed a steady stream of elderly patrons to the stall and discovered an old folk’s home across the street from the food court. Ah, this must be the reason for the low pricing. Which reminds me, now that I’ve recovered from the effects of hypothyroidism it’s time for me to start volunteering at orphanages and old folks homes again.

wide selection of dishes to choose from

the signboard does it justice

we even saw an arabic man ordering take outs (not in photo)

only a few tables occupied

economy rice indeed

time to dig in

Brendan sampled the fancily named Ipoh Spring Sprout Chicken Rice stall and was none too impressed. I guess our family does not take too kindly to non-roasted chicken rice.

fancy name

not to his fancy, said Brendan

Food and drinks came up to only RM17.50, and we were left scratching our heads trying to recall the last time the three of us had lunch for under RM20! We’ll probably be back during dinnertime one of these days.
