I was working for (now defunct) Southern Bank in Kuala Terengganu when the regional manager called me up one day to invite me to join her at a newly established credit administration centre in Kuala Lumpur.

With the promise of a promotion, I took up the offer and we moved to Kuala Lumpur in 2002. While looking for our own place to stay, we temporarily set up house at my sister’s place in USJ 20. We were here for 6 months until we found an apartment to rent in Taman Miharja.

In the time that we were living in USJ, this (and Restoran Sin Kong in Taipan) was our default dinnertime destination. Though we miss this restaurant, we do not miss the way Subangites manhandle their cars!

this place brings back memories..

.. of the time we first moved to KL

feeling nostalgic?

no matter night or day, weekday or weekend..

.. this place does rip-roaring business

Till today Brendan will have the foot tall roti tisu whenever we’re here. To our dismay, the roti tisu was not available as the cook was away. No matter, he settled for two cheesed naan breads while the health-conscious me had plain naan bread. Cat will always have fried noodles if she’s at a Mamak so this time she ordered the fried vermicelli noodles.

Cat and her fried bee hoon

bon apetit

someone's ravenous!

Brendan had not one..

but TWO cheese naans!

Sitting here after dinner we recounted the difficult times we faced moving to a big city and how we’ve adapted to life in Kuala Lumpur. That being said, given a chance we’d move away from Kuala Lumpur in a heartbeat!
