Soong Kee Beef Ball Mee

This is yet another been-there-so-often-it’s-taken-for-granted kind of restaurant. We have a special affection for anything related to beef noodles, and it’s our second favourite kind of dish after Bak Kut Teh (but due to the fact that I’m watching my cholesterol levels this dish is limited to perhaps once a month).

In fact, we’ve covered beef noodles here and here before, but never have we reviewed Soong Kee, which is our default beef noodles restaurant just a hop skip and a jump away from our apartment. I’ve been coming here since the late 1980s, though in those days the shop was still open air, not enclosed and air-conditioned as it is now.

this is the place for beef noodles

enclosed and air conditioned now

Right beside Maybank and across from RHB, this shop does rip-roaring business during lunch. Be sure to come either before 12:00PM or after 2:00PM so that you’ll have a place to sit.

got here just before the lunchtime crowd

one of a kind chili sauce

ooh lala

this is what it's all about!

time to put the camera away

bon appetit

still very reasonably priced

The damage? We both had a small bowl with Coca Cola each and it came up to only RM14 , go figure. Brendan's at school so if he were here we'd order the big bowl of beel balls just for him.

This place is high on our list of default restaurants and is very highly recommended.
