Okay, so much for nostalgia. Soon after our (second?)
breakfast at Madam Bee’s Kitchen we went on our walkabout, starting with Turtle
Alley.
familiar signage
tiled art
timely reminders
informative
along...
the...
alley
not done yet
The alley took us back to the main road of Jalan Kampung Cina.
steamed buns, anyone?
the archway in need of a new coat of paint?
We then stumbled on a Peranakan (Straits-born Chinese) Gallery:
photo gallery?
more turtles
traditional door
nothing peranakan, me thinks?
We then headed down Jalan Kampung Cina, towards the 'bridge' in the direction of Sin Phin Siang where we had breakfast yesterday.
the row shop houses go on and on
a peranakan lady serving you tea
pre-war shop houses
the eye is watching you!
ooo.. someone's getting married
Sin Phin Siang!
the 'bridge'
do they stage karaoke events here, like in Jonker walk Melaka?
the traditional trishaw
as the mural says
Turning left at Sin Phin Siang took us to Pulau Warisan.
entrance to the 'pulau' (island)
another trishaw
Sin Phin Siang way back ont he left
we were surprised to find greenery
self-explanatory
so lucky to have a playground as his backyard
Brendan's...
obsession with...
old dilapidated buildings!
can't seem to get enough of it
what's he up to now
ah, I see
another site of a dilapidated building
So there you have it, we've reached the end of our Walkabout. stay tuned for Part 3!
