Kedai Makan Guan

210, Jalan Kampung Cina
20100 Kuala Terengganu
Coordinates: 5.332170, 103.132594

We headed to Restoran Guan, in the heart of Chinatown and two doors away from the Kampung Cina archway for dinner.

As always, and as we customarily do each time we come back to Kuala Terengganu we promptly ordered the sumptuous 1Tenggiri Belacan (called Beka Belacan in Kelantan).

1fried mackerel served with a concoction of shrimp paste condiment

necessary utensils

the mackerel is served

with some herbal soup on the side

the photos definitely does not do it justice
Words cannot even begin to describe the taste of the mackerel fried to perfection and generously garnished with the savoury sauce. I know from the photos above the dish looks less than appetising, but what the photos can't relate to you is the aroma!

For us, a trip to Kuala Terengganu will not be complete without a visit to Kedai Makan Guan. Come order the 'Beka Belacan' as its called here, and tell us if we're wrong?
