Half an hour later we were taken to a place
in what we would best describe as ‘old’ Dubai, an area called Bur Dubai.
Ginny and Sern wanted our first breakfast
in the UAE to be an authentic Emirati experience, and we were held in wondrous
amazement at the sight that we would behold as we stepped foot onto the
premises of Arabian Tea House Café.

our first Emirati experience |
unassuming facade |
belies the wondrous experience within |
a gateway to great Emirati dining |
As their
website proclaims: “
Taste of genuine traditional Arabic hospitality; truly recreates the
past way of Emirati life.”
simple yet elaborate |
along the passageway to the dining area |
with tents and all! |
greenery everywhere |
elegant and tasteful decor |
up in the trees above, a testament to the homeliness |
busy kitchen! |
an experience not to be missed |
“Every aspect of Arabian Tea House Restaurant Café has
been designed so that it truly recreates the past way of Emirati life. In the
village, the old sikkas and pathways are revived echoing the sounds of the
children footsteps playing traditional games, the courtyards of the old houses
full of robust action and even the aroma of the traditional meals prepared at
noon time.”
is this some kind of ceremony? |
or smoking out the bugs |
“Arabian
Tea House Café is an oasis of quiet and calm for both tourists and residents of
Dubai who use it not only to escape the heat of the day, but also as
a meeting place to talk, relax and unwind.”
believe it or not but this is meant for one person's consumption |
excellent home kneaded bread |
goes well with the scrambled eggs in tomato sauce |
bears no description, but excellent nonetheless |
egg omelet with cheese |
latte surrounded by the wonderful karak chai |
never had eggs with olives before |
digging in! |
“Offering
a mix of the simple and traditional snacks and beverages snacks of the region
as well as modern food and beverages like juices, salads, pastries. The Café
will try and promote as much as is possible, organic themed foodstuffs but will
not promote itself solely on this basis.”
Ginny's latte |
we could never get enough of this |
excellent to the last drop |
my 'money' shot |
and then we had the local variant of the waffle |
one final parting shot |
even the bill came in style |
genuine and traditional Arabic |
“The
core concept of Arabian Tea House Café revolves around the rich culture and
hospitality of the people of the Arabian Peninsula. Keeping this in mind giving
our guests a taste of Genuine traditional Arabic Hospitality will be the core
of the selling proposition for guests visiting
Arabian Tea House Cafe.”
The four paragraphs above absolutely took
the words right out of our mouths, and the accompanying photos pay testament to
the fact that Arabian Tea House Café
means every word it says.
This must have been the heartiest most filling breakfast we've ever had. So much so that it took us a good two hours to consume every delightful mouthful of this wondrous feast.
This café is a must-visit if you ever want to
experience true and authentic Emirati dining.
the sight that greeted as we stepped out |
Al Fahidi Street |
a whole new adventure awaits! |
Just next to the Arabian Tea House Café we found a wide alleyway that led us to our
next adventure!
