In polar opposites to the
Bur Dubai and Deira areas we visited two days ago,
Downtown Dubai personifies “New Dubai” in every sense of the word with its decidedly up-scale, large-scale, mixed-use complex.
From our vantage point at
the Café Blanc we could see the luxury hotel simply known as The Address that’s
currently being rebuilt after being engulfed in an awful fire almost a year ago.

Directly in front of us is a bridge across
the man-made Burj Khalifa Lake that leads to Souk al Bahar, an Arabic-style
shopping mall that offers antique, carpet and lifestyle stores as well as
waterfront dining waterfront dining.

And to our right of course, is the iconic

It was a shame that we could not stay
longer, since the Dubai Fountain comes to life after 7:00pm. No matter, we hope
to be back one day.
