Deira is the oldest part of Dubai, on the
eastern front of the
Dubai Creek. It houses the
Gold Souk which Cat holds much affection
for. It is also Dubai's most famous and visited souk, with a labyrinth of
covered walkways that is home to hundreds of retailers offering a very large
selection of jewelry made from gold, silver, diamond and other precious metals
and stones.
Dubai, City of Gold! |
yes indeed |
Cat's eyes literally lit up |
walking purposefully |
where do we begin? |
It's a fascinating place that should be on
the list of everyone visiting Dubai, even if you don't intend to buy (in this
case, my dear wife).
this display immediately caught our eye |
wonder how much a vest would cost? |
beyond our wildest imagination |
'worth its weight in gold', literally! |
From this point onwards we’ll let the
photos do the talking:
strangely, no security personnel in sight |
this intrigued us Boys |
distinctly gangsta style |
we're in the 'hood! |
for a Muslim country, they're pretty open minded |
the Lord Jesus flanked by his guardians? |
this crucifix was really appealing to me |
this one too |
we'll take them all |
in our dreams, of course |
wonder if I can ever afford this |
Finally managing to tear herself away, Cat was
crestfallen as she joined us to make our way back across the Dubai Creek. We were feeling rather hungry after all that walking and decided to head out for an early
lunch.
