A couple of hours later and we arrived at JA Hatta Fort Hotel.
Nestled at the foothills of the famous Al Hajar Mountains lies JA Hatta Fort Hotel, an old but well-kept resort that offers splendid chalet styled rooms providing both comfort and soothing wood beam ceilings. Upon checking in an amazingly friendly and helpful Pakistani porter (who's name for the life of us we couldn't remember) took care us until we arrived at our rooms.

Fun fact: this unassuming resort won the World's Leading Adventure Hotel 2019 award by the World Travel Awards.
We stayed in a room that the resort describes as “generous in size, open space with high ceilings, inspired by contemporary arabesque style and natural details of exposed stone, wood and linen. The soothing pastel palette is serene and complements the rich intensity of lush greenery, deep blue dam and umber horizon outside.”

After checking into our rooms and quickly settling in we headed out again to explore all that this resort has to offer. Ginny and Sern decided to take in the lush greenery and perched themselves on a grassy knoll to lie back and gaze at the sky.
We on the other hand were itching to climb up the resort's very own observatory hill where we were promised an excellent view of Hatta town and its surroundings.

The resort is also in close distance to the Hatta Dam and Heritage Village which we plan to visit tomorrow morning.

As a Chinese New Year eve treat Ginny and Sern took us to a most sumptuous dinner at the resort’s own coffee house, Jeema that invited us to "embark on a sensory journey, with panoramic views of the mountainous terrain complementing an impressive à la carte menu. Including a carefully curated selection of fine beverages, Jeema is an atmospheric and charming restaurant in which to while away the evening."

After dinner we wandered around the grounds for a little bit, and then headed back to our chalets for a restful sleep.
