UAE2020 Day 05: Bur Dubai Walkabout

Twenty minutes after checking into XVA Art Hotel we were back out on the streets eager to explore our most favourite district in all of Dubai. We took our time ambling along the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbouring before eventually ending up along Al Fahidi Street.

Dubai's newest-oldest historic district

she loves this; the camel? not so

remnants of old Dubai

traditional Dubai architecture

leaving the neighbourhood

always fascinating

ambling out

the alleyway to the neighbourhood

We headed west along Al Fahidi Street until we got to the area surrounding the Dubai Museum. Here we changed directions and walked north along the Dubai Museum until we got to the Shiva Temple.

we were headed west

distracted by the scents

the Dubai Museum

We then headed west through the alleyways along the Old Textile Market until we got to the Dubai Creek. Here we stopped awhile and had coffee at Mazmi Coffee and More, as we watched the boats sailing by.

past the Shiva Temple

very narrow alleyway

we got distracted again

we then turned north

toward the Creek

and then we...

got our first glimpse...

of Khor Dubai!

or Dubai Creek

we sat at a cafe

and watched the boats sail or pass by

seemed a little out of place here?

We were however still hungry since we had a light lunch back at JA Hatta Fort Hotel a long while back and decided to make our way back to the vicinity of the hotel where we were hoping for some authentic local cuisine.

leaving the Creek

headed back south

past some 'dinner boats'

one last glimpse

we took a detour

We took the scenic route along the expansive alleyways of the Textile Souq Market before heading south along the Dubai Museum before walking east along Al Fahidi Street, and back to our hotel.

the textile souk!

fascinating as always

but we were wary of the prices

peddlers manning their stalls

through to another alleyway

Cat didn't fancy the plunging neckline

has it been 4 years since we last visited?

she does fancy her spices

and crockery

made it out

we'll be back tomorrow!

headed back to Al Fahidi St

walking south

caught sight of the Grand Bur Dubai Masjid

back down Al Fahidi St

past the Dubai Museum

it was getting chilly at 6pm

We were going to have dinner where a camel stood guard outside!
