We came back across the Dubai Creek and headed back to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood to have lunch at the place we had dinner last night, and to experience grilled camel meat!

right outside our hotel |
Yup, barely 24 hours later and we were back at
Local House Restaurant. The restaurant looks different in the daytime without the bright lights overhead across the courtyard, but this did not take way its warm and cosy ambiance.

a large lunchtime crowd |

we had to wait for a table |

thankfully most diners did not linger too long |
This will be our first time trying out camel meat, so here goes:
All in all, not quite what we expected, but in a very good way. The meat was juicy and succulent just like any other meats, and we could be forgiven if we mistook it for beef or lamb, since it indeed tasted like a cross between both.
We learnt later that camel meat is reputed to be healthier than other red meats such as beef – it is leaner and a good source of protein and vitamin E. A definite plus!
After lunch we went back to the hotel for a rest, in eager anticipation of the special treat that awaited us later in the evening!
