UAE2020 Day 07: Dubai Creek Crossings (Again)

We got to the Bur Dubai Abra Station and hopped on the water-taxi waiting while taking in the sights of the Dubai Creek for what would be our last time (for this trip anyway).

at the abra station

getting ready to hop on

oh dear, I think I've annoyed him

better put the camera away!

We took some hand-held videos from our mobile phones as well, for good measure:

Within 5 minutes we reached the other side of the Creek and hopped off the abra at the Deira Old Souk Abra Station.

After we were done with our little errand at Laura Mars Perfumes and armed with the new batch of freshly concocted perfumes we made our way back to the Deira Old Souk Abra Station. We hopped on the abra at 15 minutes to 11 and seeing as this would be our last time seeing the Creek we went a little overboard with the photos:

setting off

its busier now

the Dubai Creek, considered the...

the vein that feeds the heart of Dubai

bidding a fond farewell...

to the Deira Old Souk station

the original area of tribe settlement in Dubai

a vital take-off point for pearl diving and fishing

a major waterway that divides Bur Dubai and Deira

a convenient route for local residents & visitors...

between the souks of Dubai and other major stops

nothing can beat the value of a one-dirham abra ride

the cheapest way to experience the sights & sounds...

of Dubai while aboard a traditional wooden watercraft!

We hopped off the abra 5 minutes later at the Bur Dubai Abra Station and took another walk along the Bur Dubai Souk Market.
