DJI POCKET 2: Time-Lapse Take 4

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

It's raining!

We are in the the first inter-monsoonal period here in Kuala Lumpur. Apart from the monsoon period, it can always rain in Malaysia; it is after all a tropical destination.

Today was no exception, and it was a proper thunderstorm that lasted well over an hour. Our fourth attempt at time-lapse photography, we focused on the Kuala Lumpur skyline from several perspectives; during the thunderstorm and later as dusk approached.

We set the DJI Pocket 2 to capture a frame every three seconds, for two hours capturing the thunderstorm an hour before and after. Later using the same settings we captured the sunset an hour before and after. This time there was no filter attached, and we relied on the lens "au naturel".

Melaka Trip Day 5!

All good things must come to an end, and after four splendid days in Melaka it was time for us to head back to Kuala Lumpur. We checked out of our wonderful apartment (thanks Victor!) at 9am, but knew we had to give Baba Low a go before leaving Melaka.

Some of you may be familiar with the Baba Low café in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. Well, this is the original stall from where it all started.

This small unassuming roadside stall was the spot Baba Low started out all those years ago. In fact its premises in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur got its name (Baba Low 486) from the lot number that this stall is situated on. Nestled under a large mango tree the open-air environment with old-school stools and tables lent to its cosy ambiance.

We sampled the Mee Siam and Nasi Lemak, and together with beverages our breakfast came to a very reasonable RM13.30 (approximately USD3/EUR3).

Our bellies we got back into our car and made the two hour drive back to Kuala Lumpur. Until the next time!

The DAILY FIX Café

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

Melaka Trip Day 4!

Our morning began with a Grab car ride from our apartment at Mahkota Residence headed to The Daily Fix Café. Alas we were too early and had to make alternate plans for breakfast.

An impromptu walkabout, haircut, and bus ride later we found ourselves back here for lunch. This diminutive cafe had limited seating and it being lunchtime and all we had to wait a while before getting a table.

The wait was well worth it for the ambiance alone, and after perusing the menu:

  • I tried the Carbonara for RM17.50
  • Cat had the Duck Aglio E Olio for RM17.50
  • I ordered the Watermelon Mint Juice for RM13.00
  • Cat fancied the Papaya Smoothie for RM13.00

The meal attracted a service charge (and tax?) of RM10.10, so our meal came to RM71.10 (approximately USD16/EUR15). We admit that it was a little pricey and comforted ourselves with the fact that the vibe here more than made up for the exorbitant fees.

We do recommend you put this café on your bucket list the next time you're in Melaka, if only for the decent food and excellent atmosphere alone!

Panorama MELAKA Bus Ride

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

Melaka Trip Day 4!

After my haircut we walked out onto Jalan Bendehara and suddenly thought of catching a bus to Dataran Pahlawan to do some errands. We caught a Panorama Melaka bus at Flat 9 Tingkat to Dataran Pahlawan and twenty minutes later we emerged to catch another Panorama Melaka to Melaka Sentral.

The bus took off headed east along Jalan Merdeka before making its way to Jalan Parameswara. It reached the end and turned left onto Jalan Bukit Senjuang headed north before making a loop around and onto Lorong Bukit Senjuang headed south.

At the end of Lorong Bukit Senjuang the bus turned left headed east along Jalan Ujong Pasir to its end before merging onto Jalan Padang Temu. Here it made a U-turn at the intersection with Jalan Taman Padang Temu Indah and headed back west in the opposite direction.

At the end of Jalan Ujong Pasir it turned left onto Jalan Melati before merging onto Jalan Melaka Raya 23 past the Pangsapuri Hilir Kota where we spent our first night here in Melaka. It then turned right at the traffic lights onto Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz all the way to its end past our apartment at Mahkota Residence.

It turned right at the traffic lights near the Swan Garden Hotel and headed northeast still on Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz before turning right onto Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock. It then turned left onto Jalan Kubu past the Jonker Walk Arch before eventually turning left onto Jalan Hang Tuah.

The bus then turned right onto Jalan Tun Ali past the LaCrista Hotel before merging onto Jalan Panglima Awang headed north. At the Lebuh AMJ intersection it continued onwards onto Jalan Melaka Sentral which meant that we were nearing the end of our bus ride.

At Melaka Sentral we hopped on another Panorama Melaka bus headed back to town. The bus departed and headed east along Lebuh AMJ for a fair bit before turning right onto Jalan Taming Sari. The bus ride continued on uneventfully and in no time at all we disembarked at The Stadthuys.

Thus ends our short sight seeing session on a Panorama Melaka bus. The entire fare end to end barely cost us RM5.00 (approximately USD1/EUR1) so for extraordinarily little money this is the easiest way to tour Melaka on a budget!

Melaka Trip Day 4!

After breakfast at Restoran Kok Keong I had planned to visit an old favourite barber at Kampung Jawa. We found Tan You Hock’s barbershop closed. When we enquired from a kind neighbour a few doors away, we were informed, to our immense sadness that Uncle Tan had passed away. May you rest in peace Uncle!

The weather was extremely hot and humid, and still needing a haircut we walked to Kedai Gunting Rambut Nathan, another barbershop a short distance away in Little India. What little hair I had left was well tended to, and I highly recommend this barbershop to anyone around.

Melaka Trip Day 4!

Our morning began with a minor disappointment as our intended breakfast destination, The Daily Fix Cafe was still not opened for business. Undeterred we walked for a little while before arriving at Restoran Kok Keong for breakfast instead.

Located across the Lorong Jambatan lane it was a diminutive restaurant that seemed to be well patronised. We walked in and as always ordered two servings of their house specialty, the 豬肉羹 which Cat could only roughly translate as pork soup or pork stew.

Quite similar to Bak Kut Teh, this particular variant of the pork stew is full of flavour and coupled with their unique yam rice presents quite a unique experience. The breakfast cost us RM24 (approximately USD6/EUR5) which was reasonable seeing as the pork stew was unique and quite unlike anything we've had in the past.

Melaka Trip Day 4!

Our morning began with a Grab car ride from our apartment at Mahkota Residence headed to the general area of Jonker Walk. Cat read about a cafe that piqued her interest but alas when we got there The Daily Fix Cafe was still not opened for business.

Undeterred we walked northeast along Jalan Hang Lekiu to its very end before turning right onto Jalan Kampung Pantai. We continued east for a little while before arriving at Restoran Kok Keong for breakfast.

Thirty-five minutes later we walked out across Jalan Kampung Pantai and proceeded along Lorong Jambatan before walking across Jambatan Kampung Jawa. I had planned to visit an old favourite barber here at Kampung Jawa.

We found Tan You Hock’s barbershop closed. When we enquired from a kind neighbour a few doors down, we were informed, to our immense sadness that Uncle Tan had passed away. May you rest in peace Uncle!

We had lunch and hailed a Grab car back to our apartment at Mahkota Residence. We spent the entire day at the apartment as I worked on the voluminous amount of footage that we shot earlier. We will be going back home to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow 😒

Melaka Trip Day 3!

We spent the entire morning on a walkabout that ended at Dataran Pahlawan. We took away a rice set from Wong Kok there and had it for lunch at our apartment. I spent the afternoon editing our videos, and before you know it was already evening.

We set out to find ourselves a Reflexology centre nearby and settled on 55 Thai Massage. It was the first time getting a foot massage since the pandemic and the ‘massage therapists’ had a heck of a time trying to smoothen out the kinks in our feet and shoulders.

A bruising hour later we emerged from 55 Thai Massage shaken but not stirred and thought that we would have an early dinner nearby. Amigo Steak & Grill has been a firm favourite for a while now and we walked in to get ourselves seated. Ordering online with the QR code provided was a breeze and:

  • I tried the Mozzarella Chicken Chop for RM25.00
  • Cat had the Mushroom Chicken Chop for RM12.00
  • I ordered the extra-large Honey Dew Juice for RM11.20
  • Cat ordered the extra-large Carrot Juice with Milk for RM12.20

We were less than thrilled that the meal attracted a service charge of RM4.00, so our Western meal came to RM70.25 (approximately USD16/EUR15). We admit that it was a little pricey, but we had planned to go all out for dinner anyway, as a means of recovering from the bruising but satisfying massage we had earlier.

MELAKA River Walk

Melaka Trip Day 3!

We began the morning with a walk from our apartment at Mahkota Residence to Mei Sin Cafe, where we had breakfast. After a hearty meal we headed to Kampung Morten to begin our river walk. It was a quiet morning with hardly anyone around, due in part to the holy month of Ramadan.

We had intended to begin at the Ruins of Ermida de Rosario (Rosary Chapel) but the wooden walkway along The Shore was closed off, probably due to erosion. We then crossed the first bridge, the Kampung Morten Bridge. We walked due north along the length of Jalan Kampung Morten until we reached Lorong Tun Mamat 1 where we came upon the second bridge, the Jambatan Datuk Mohd Zin. We then got to Jalan Tun Mamat then onto Jalan Tun Ali which was in effect walking in an upside-down U-shaped direction.

We then walked across the third bridge, the Old Bus Station Bridge and continued walking along the Melaka River. We walked past the fourth bridge, the Jambatan Hang Tuah and continued in a general southeast direction. We came across the fifth bridge, the Jambatan Pasar and continued walking south along Jalan Baru before arriving at Jalan Kampung Jawa.

Here stood perhaps the most famous (or infamous?) bridge of all, the sixth bridge known as the Jambatan Kampung Jawa (nicknamed "Gates to Hell") where the local population was supposedly beheaded during the Japanese Occupation in the 1940s. We continued walking south to the very end of the river walkway past the seventh bridge, the Bridge of Chan Koon Cheng before walking past the Church of St. Francis Xavier and before long reached The Stadhuys.

We ended our river walkabout which could also be called the bridge-spotting walkabout at the eighth and final bridge, the Tan Kim Seng Bridge. Be sure to read our previous blog on our morning walk along the fascinating streets of Melaka!

MELAKA Walkabout (The Stadthuys, Bunga Raya, Mei Sin Café, Kampung Morten, Dataran Pahlawan)

Melaka Trip Day 3!

The last time we were in Melaka we were still recovering from a Covid-19 infection and were not at full strength. This time around we were almost back at peak health and were eager to go on another walkabout.

We had intended to hail a Grabcar to Mei Sin Cafe at the Bunga Raya area, but alas there were no drivers available yet at 8am. We then decided to take a leisurely walk from our apartment in Mahkota Residence all the way to the cafe, a good 2 kilometres away.

We set off from Mahkota Residence and walked across Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz headed north along Jalan Mahkota past Mahkota Parade. We then walked across Jalan Merdeka and turned left headed west for a while before turning right at Dataran Pahlawan due north again along Jalan Taman.

We reached Jalan Kota where we turned left headed northwest, past a row of museums before meeting up with Jalan Merdeka again. We turned right due northeast onto Jalan Laksamana and walked past The Stadthuys, the Melaka Clock Tower and Christ Church.

We then walked across Jalan Laksamana and turned right due northeast along a row of old heritage shop lots until we reached the Church of St. Francis Xavier. There was a fork in the road here and we chose to walk along Jalan Bunga Raya headed north.

Jalan Bunga Raya has a special place in our hearts as it was where we spent the most time during the days when Ramada Plaza Hotel still existed. We continued walking along due north Jalan Bunga Raya past Cat’s favourite Teck Ann Chinese Medicine shop until the intersection with Jalan Munshi Abdullah.

Here we walked across and continued north for a little while more before arriving at our chosen breakfast spot, Mei Sin Café.

After breakfast we began our river walking, strolling the entire length from Kampung Morten all the way to Hard Rock Café. From here we doubled back along Jalan Laksamana, then Jalan Merdeka and then Jalan Kota before arriving at Dataran Pahlawan where we ended our morning walk.

Melaka Trip Day 2!

We spent the entire morning at Pangsapari Hilir Kota and had a McDonalds breakfast. True to his word at noon Victor gave us the go-ahead to move into our desired apartment at Mahkota Residence. Cat then busied herself with laundry, while I continued with editing our clips from yesterday.

Lunchtime came and we ordered out again with the Grabfood app. Our lunch was a simple affair of fried rice. I took an afternoon nap while Cat caught up with current affairs on her tablet.

I awoke in the evening and we set out on a leisurely drive around Melaka City. We found the streets surprisingly empty, probably because our Muslim friends were preparing for the breaking of fast. We arrived at Lu Yeh Yen a little after six and without much hesitation ordered the:

  • Dried Chilli Fried Chicken for RM12.00
  • Sweet & Sour Pork for RM12.00
  • Salted Vegetable Soup with Tofu for RM10.00
  • Large Omelette for RM6.00
  • A large pot of Rice for RM3.00
  • Two rounds of Coca-Cola for RM3.00

We were ecstatic that the entire meal was devoid of service charge, so it came to a very reasonable RM46.00 (approximately USD11/EUR10). We've been coming here each time we visited Melaka, and will continue to do so in the future.

Tomorrow we plan to go on a riverside walk, so please stay tuned!

Melaka Trip (Again)!

Three months later and we're back in Melaka. It was a very last-minute arrangement, so much so that our friendly Airbnb Super Host (Victor) had to move heaven and earth to accommodate us. We wanted stay at the Mahkota Residence again, alas it was booked till tomorrow.

Until then Victor arranged for us to stay a night here at this excellent 3-bedroom ground floor apartment at Pangsapuri Hilir Kota. Nestled amongst more modern highrises its a housing complex that is surprisingly quiet and peaceful.

Victor, a Super Host in more ways than one meant that we would have absolutely no complaints with the apartment. If not for the absence of a washing machine it would have been perfect!

We'll let the videos describe the apartment. If you are planning a trip to Melaka, we highly recommend Victor's portfolio of apartments and homes on Airbnb. You can refer to his profile https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/11145548 for a complete list of his well-appointed units.

Melaka Trip (Again)!

Two weeks into the holy month of Ramadhan we decided to spend some time away from the concrete jungle that is Kuala Lumpur. Our favourite Airbnb Super Host Victor managed to find accommodations for us, and after a leisurely two-hour drive south we arrived in Melaka City.

Seeing as it was already lunchtime, we thought we would like Baba Charlie Café a try. From its humble beginnings operating from a house along a lane that is very narrow and pretty inconspicuous Baba Charlie making a variety of local Melaka Nyonya Kuih it has expanded to serving Nyonya cuisine here at this café.

*Nyonya = Southern Chinese settlers to maritime Southeast Asia
**Kuih = bite-sized snack or dessert foods commonly found in Southeast Asia

Hunger pangs meant that we forgot to shoot some clips of their menu but believe you me a very wide selection of local Nyonya cuisine and Kuih can be found here. After a quick scan of the menu we decided on:

  • Ponteh Chicken Rice Set for RM7.90
  • Chili Garam Fish Steak Rice for RM23.90
  • We also had an assortment of beverages

+Pongteh, a braised meat dish with potatoes cooked in a gravy consisting of fermented bean paste and soy sauce
++Chili Garam Fish, a Nyonya-style baked fish with chilli paste

What was the damage? We were incredibly happy that the entire meal was devoid of service charge, so it came up to a very reasonable RM38.30 (approximately USD9/EUR8).

We also ten servings worth of our favourite Nyonya Kuih which came to RM40.50 (approximately USD10/EUR9), which among other things were:

  • Ang Koo - "red tortoise", glutinous red coloured rice flour filled with mung beans
  • Kochi - glutinous rice flour stuffed with coconut fillings and palm sugar
  • Kuih Lapis - colourful steamed layered soft rice flour pudding
  • Pulut Tekan - Glutinous rice steamed in coconut milk, dyed blue with bunga telang and served with kaya
  • Seri Muka - two-layered dessert of steamed glutinous rice and a green custard layer of pandan juice
  • Talam - steamed rice flour and coconut milk in a molded pan called talam

We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to experience local Nyonya cuisine and sweet cakes!

100th Video Special: To LAKE GARDENS and Back

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

It's our 100th vlog on YouTube!

To commemorate this auspicious occasion, and to also celebrate the 1st anniversary of our channel we decided to give all of you a treat.

We noticed that most, if all not all of our previous walkabout videos were centred entirely around malls and other ‘urban jungle’ type places. We realised that most of you might not know that Kuala Lumpur has a lush green area literally within walking distance from where we live. It is an area that will be the focal point of this video, a place that we will proudly showcase.

And so with that in mind we began our walkabout as always along Jalan Tuanku Abdul headed south for a little while before turning right along a small alley onto Lorong Gombak before walking west along Jalan Palestin.

We then got onto Jalan Raja Laut headed south walking across Jalan Parlimen before arriving at Jalan Raja. We walked past Dataran Merdeka, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the Zero Miles Kuala Lumpur milestone, the Tallest Flagpole in Malaysia as well as the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery, to name a few notable landmarks here.

We continued south along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin past Jalan Bukit Aman until we turned right onto Jalan Cenderasari. We had arrived at the green lung of Kuala Lumpur!

We walked northwest past Tanglin Health Clinic and turned left still on Jalan Cenderasari past the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park until we arrived at the Taman Etnobotani.

We walked across Jalan Lembah onto Jalan Tembesu and arrived at the gates to Lake Gardens!

Verdant, peaceful Lake Gardens is home to the Perdana Botanical Garden, a sprawling park with tree-lined walking trails, orchid and hibiscus displays, as well as a planetarium.

We continued walking down along Jalan Tembusu and arrived at Jalan Kebun Bunga where we turned left. We walked along the pathway along the lake circling it before crossing a bridge that took us to the Bamboo Playhouse.

We crossed another bridge that took us back to Jalan Kebun Bunga, here we walked northwest past the Oasis Garden Waterfall until we reached the Fantasy Planet & Dinosaur Park where we turned right and headed to the exit.

We walked north along Jalan Cenderamulia past the Royal Lake Club until we got to Jalan Cenderawasih. We walked across onto Jalan Parlimen and walked across again. We headed northeast past Padang Merbok until we got to the pedestrian underpass underneath Bulatan Dato Onn.

From this point onwards we walked back along Jalan Raja Laut and stopped by our favourite Mamak (Malaysian Indian Muslim) restaurant, Sithique Nasi Kandar Pulau Pinang along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman to take away some Roti Canai with Mutton Curry. It rained soon after, I kept the camera safely away in my water proof pouch and ran all the way home.

The entire walkabout was 7.31 kilometres, and by the time we got home we were knackered, but in a good way.

Mall Hopping 3 (NU Sentral, Nyonya Colors, 1 Utama, The Curve, IPC, OneDeLand @ IPC)

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

If yesterday's walkabout was about t-shirts, then today it’s all about shoes! Cat was looking to get a pair of platform sneakers and so we our day began with a free GO KL bus ride that took us to KL Sentral.  We breakfast at NU Sentral at a place called to Nyonya Colours, then made our way down to the Muzium Negara MRT station.

We caught a train to the Bandar Utama MRT station fifteen minutes later. Walking out of the station and at 1 Utama were confronted with Sports Direct. We browsed for a bit and Cat fancied a couple of shoes by Puma and Skechers. She decided against buying first, in case she found a better deal elsewhere. I on the other hand splurged on four pairs of Lonsdale boxing vests, which in my defense were on sale.

We then walked into 1 Utama Shopping Centre and and came upon a Skechers store. Nothing struck our fancy though and walked across to Footlocker where a pink Converse caught Cat's eye. Another one for her list, we then made our way up to the Converse store on the second floor where we hoped to see more varieties.

Alas, the Converse store on the second floor was tiny and unmanned. We then browsed a Puma store nearby but did not have the platform sneakers that Cat was after. We strolled along the second floor for a bit and made our way back to the ground floor, since Cat had made up her mind to get the platform Puma sneakers that she saw at Sports Direct.

We made our way back to Sports Direct and Cat tried the sneakers on only to find it a little tight. Alas it was the last pair and we dejectedly walked out of the store, firm in the resolve to take our hunt online. We walked back to the Bandar Utama MRT station and a short one-station train ride to the Mutiara Damansara MRT station.

We arrived and upon disembarking was stunned to see The Curve a little more than a ghost town. We were told that The Curve practically shut down soon after the pandemic. We strolled along the desolate walkways and made it across the pedestrian bridge to IPC Shopping Centre which thankfully showed plenty of signs of life. IPC must be thanking their lucky stars that IKEA is its anchor tenant.

At IPC Shopping Centre we browsed what in our minds was the largest Skechers store we have ever been to, but again nothing struck our fancy. We then entered another shoe store called Original Classics but alas it did not have the platform sneakers Cat was after.

As a diversion we walked into LC Waikiki and then Brands Outlet which seemed to pick Cat's spirits up. It was lunch time, most eateries here full so we thought we would head back home. As we were making our way to the Mutiara Damansara MRT station we came upon a Western Asian fusion restaurant which was not busy and ended up having lunch there.

We had a great lunch at OneDeLand and walked to the Mutiara Damansara MRT station to catch a train back to KL Sentral. A twenty-minute train ride later and we were back at the Muzium Negara MRT station and thought we would catch another free GO KL bus back home. After waiting at the bus stand for a few minutes a bus arrived but was full. Not being one for crowded places and confined spaces we decided against waiting for another bus and hailed a Grab car to get home instead.

With that we end our adventurising for today, and hope to go on bring all of you along for another walkabout real soon!

ONEDELAND @ IPC Shopping Centre

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

We worked up an appetite after three and a half hours of gallivanting and were about to head to the Muitara Damanasara MRT station to head back when we came across a restaurant that caught our eye.  Aspiring to offer a fusion of Western and Asian cuisine, suited to contemporary Malaysian palates, OneDeLand was not as busy as most eateries here so we ventured in.

We perused the menu and Cat eventually ordered the Grilled Chicken Chop with Bacon burger, while I tried the Grilled Pork Chop with Bacon burger, both with a side of fries. We took a walk on the wild side with the beverages, Cat tried the Hawaiian Sunset (pineapple) juice while I took a chance on the Vege Green (apple) Garden juice.

Our lunch came to RM56.10 (approximately USD13/EUR12) which was a little pricey by our standards but was to be expected. Our verdict, we quite enjoyed our burgers and fries while the beverages had quite a strong celery after taste which we found a little strange. Overall we would recommend this restaurant to anyone look for a quick and easy bite!

NYONYA COLOURS @ NU Sentral

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

We were on a mall hopping mission again! We took the free GOKL Red Line bus from our home to KL Sentral, and before hopping on the MRT to 1 Utama Shopping Centre we thought we would seek sustenance first.

We made our way to Quiziin Food Court at Level 3 but perhaps due to it being the first day of Ramadan most of the stalls were not opened.

We then made our way back along Level 3 to Nyonya Colours where we ordered the A set which consisted of half boiled eggs with toast, and Teh Tarik to boot. Our perennial favourite and a quite typical Malaysian breakfast and our perennial favourite.

It all came to RM19.60 (approximately USD5/EUR4) and seeing as it was in a mall, we thought it reasonably priced.

Energised, let our walkabout begin!

Mall Hopping 2 (Sungei Wang Plaza, Berjaya Times Square, LaLaport, Sukiya Tokyo Bowls, Sogo)

нello everyone! we are caт and нarold. welcoмe тo oυr blog, creaтed ιn нonoυr oғ oυr devoтιon тo тнe everyday ғood ғor тнe everyday perѕon, aѕ well aѕ тo caтalogυe oυr мeмorιeѕ, lιғe'ѕ evenтѕ, and тravelѕ wнere oυr 'perυт' (тυммy) leadѕ тнe way!

Last weekend we were in Sungei Wang Plaza and among the things we shopped for was an extremely comfortable khaki coloured Jack & Jones t-shirt from Factory Outlet Store (FOS). I liked it so much that this weekend I made it my mission to get a few more.

After a little research we discovered that FOS had outlets at Sungei Wang Plaza, Berjaya Times Square and LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC). After breakfast we hailed a Grab car and made our way to Sungei Wang Plaza first and went directly to the FOS store there. Alas although it was the same store where I got the khaki-coloured Jack & Jones t-shirt I was out of luck since the t-shirt was part of a batch of old stock that was on sale.

Undeterred we walked over to Berjaya Times Square but did not find the t-shirt at the FOS outlet there as well. Cat suggested we visited LC Waikiki, another favourite budget-friendly clothing store. Here I found two polo t-shirts with chest pockets that struck my fancy on sale for only RM24.90 (approximately USD6/EUR5).

We then walked to LaLaport BBCC but seeing as it was our first time made the mistake of crossing a few busy streets to get there. Had we known that there was a proper overhead pedestrian bridge we would not have taken the risk. Oh well, you live and learn.

We arrived at LaLaport BBCC and after consulting with the directory found the FOS outlet here. Alas, it was not to be my day. They did not have the comfortable khaki coloured Jack & Jones t-shirt that I was looking for. I did however get a pair of cotton briefs!

After a potty break we resumed our walkabout at LaLaport BBCC and decided to have an early lunch. With nothing particular in mind we made our way down to the lower ground floor which hosted a wide selection of eateries.

We surveyed each food stall before deciding on Sukiya Tokyo Bowls & Noodles which was fitting seeing as LaLaport is from Japan. We had a very savoury lunch and resumed our walkabout.

We window shopped for a bit and Cat then wanted to have a look at the household and furniture items at Natori, and we spent a good amount of time browsing there. Cat and I made a mental note of several items of furniture that we liked here and will probably be back some time in the near future.

During the course of our walkabout I inadvertently broke the cap off my little Dettol Hand Sanitiser, so we then headed to the Healthlane Pharmacy to get a replacement bottle. With nothing else in mind, we then walked to the Hang Tuah interchange station to catch an LRT back to our home.

We got off at the Bandaraya LRT station and walked into Sogo as Cat wanted to buy a set of shampoo and conditioner from her favourite brand, Diane. We then took the escalator down to the lower ground floor, where we bought a meal each from Bungkus Kaw Kaw for our dinner later.

With that we end our adventurising for today, and hope to go on another walkabout real soon!
