PENANG Again! (Corus Hotel, Queensbay Mall, Hutton Central, Nasi Kandar Pokok Ketapang)

It's Brendan's birthday!

Barely two months later and we were headed back north to the island they call The Pearl Of The Orient. This time it would be the three of us, to celebrate Brendan's birthday.

And this time around instead of the ETS we were taking the Aeroline bus. At RM60.00 per person (approximately USD/EUR13) the fare was 50% more expensive than the regular buses that ply the Kuala Lumpur to Penang route.

Our Sunday morning began with an LRT train from the Masjid Jamek Station to the KLCC Station for a fare of RM1.60 each (approximately USD/EUR0.40). We rode a flight of escalators up to the surface which was also Avenue K. We walked a short distance to Corus Hotel and at the lobby we left our luggage bags at the Aeroline counter. Since it was only 8:00am and with time to spare we made our way across the street to Wisma Central.

Here we had a simple breakfast of roti canai with a round of beverages that came to RM9.70 (approximately USD/EUR2.20). An hour later we were done and walked back across the street to Corus Hotel and after a short wait the bus arrived. After a lengthy process of checking each passenger's ticket the bus eventually departed at 9:40am.

At about 12:00pm the bus stopped at the Simpang Pulai R&R on the outskirts of Ipoh, where we got to stretch our legs while some took the opportunity to get some snacks. Twenty minutes later the bus resumed its trip and like clockwork arrived at Queensbay Mall at 2:30pm.

We walked into Queensbay Mall and headed down to the AEON Supermarket to get a packet of laundry detergent, then hailed a Grab car to the hotel.

Since Brendan came with us this time around, we booked a two-bedroom apartment, and although we booked with the same hotel, Hutton Central we were given a unit at their sister property, Hutton Suites just stone's throw away. We checked in and were shown our room, we then deposited our luggage bags and quickly made our way to Nasi Kandar Pokok Ketapang nearby for lunch that cost only RM27.70 (approximately USD/EUR6).

We then walked over to Mydin Hypermarket to get several bottles of drinking water and headed back to the hotel. We got settled in and rested the entire afternoon only to emerge later in the evening for our walkabout. Be sure to catch our next video.

Lastly, we feel that it is our civic duty to remind everyone that while masks are now optional outdoors, it is still mandatory indoors!
