Santai — A Much Needed Chill Day
Our penultimate day in Kuching, and after the exertions of the past few days, we decided to have a santai — a proper chillaxing day. We slept well, and I woke at 6:30am to a gloriously cool, soothing morning.
I opened the front doors and let the fresh Kenyalang Park air flow through the Airbnb. After a shower, I ordered breakfast from McDonald’s via Grab.
Brendan and Cat were still fast asleep, so I let them rest while I worked on the ever growing mountain of footage from the past few days.
They woke up a few hours later, and we left the Airbnb at 11:30am.
Exploring Samarahan (Properly This Time)
Our first destination was Kota Samarahan again — but this time, we wanted to explore the actual township beyond Summer Mall.
We arrived at a row of stalls selling fruits and local cakes by the river, but couldn’t find a proper place to eat. We walked toward what looked like a jetty, but a large sign warning of crocodiles sent us scurrying back to the car.
Still hungry, we drove on in search of lunch and naturally ended up at Makansari Food Street at Aiman Mall.
Be sure to watch the next video dedicated to our Dayak lunch.
Returning the Graduation Robes
After lunch, we drove (yet again) to UNIMAS so Brendan could return his graduation robe and hat. Before he did, Cat and I took turns posing with the garb at his faculty’s photo booth — a fun little moment for the both of us.
We then parted ways: Brendan went to meet a few friends who were graduating today, while Cat and I drove back to Adelyn’s Airbnb.
What’s Next
Tomorrow, we leave Kuching 😔
