ASTANA Restaurant Again: Kazakh Cuisine!

We miss Russian cuisine!

It was the third day of Chinese New Year and still a public holiday in Malaysia.

I completed the series of four videos from our 24-hour sojourn at Central Market last night and slept in today. By the time we awoke it was a quarter to eleven, and by the we drove out for lunch it was noon.

Brendan elected to stay home and continue with his 'beauty' sleep. We were headed to Sri Petaling for lunch at our favourite Kazakh restaurant, Astana.

The restaurant was not busy, so we were able to pick the choicest table right in the middle. We featured this restaurant on our channel almost two years ago to the day, and it was time for a revisit.

We ordered pretty much the same as the last time we were here, which was:

  • a serving of Olivie
  • a bowl of Borsh
  • a plate of Beef Plov
  • a plate of Horsemeat Plov
  • 3 skewers of Lamb Shashlyk
  • a jug of Kvas

Including a half dozen Manty that we took away, our excellent Kazakh lunch came to RM174.00 (approximately USD37/EUR34), which was a little steep by our standards but well worth it.

We cannot recommend Astana highly enough, so head on over!
