Anjung Senja Kota Kinabalu: Tanjung Emas Lot 13

Dinner by the Coast!

We settled into our homestay and after an hour or so we headed out for an early dinner, since the only thing we had was the meal served on the plane. 

We took a stroll along Jalan Coastal, part of Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens or Kota Kinabalu Coastal Highway which is a major highway in Kota Kinabalu city. It was built on reclaimed land in the 1990s and it was part of the Kota Kinabalu coastal development project.

A ten minute walk later and we were at Anjung Senja, where there were rows of seafood stalls. We eventually decided on stall number 13 called Tanjung Emas and settled on:

  • Grilled Ikan Belais (Streaked Spinefoot)
  • Buttered Udang Galah (Lobster) 
  • a bowl of Chicken Tomyam
  • a plate of Rumpai Laut (Local Seaweed)
  • a plate of large Kerang (Clams)
  • 2 Omelettes
  • 3 plates of white rice
  • 1 hot coffee
  • 2 Iced Honey Lemon

Our first dinner in Kota Kinabalu came to RM170.00 (approximately USD26/EUR24). A little steep, but the food was great. The experience of watching the sun set as we dined was priceless.

We then took a leisurely stroll back to the homestay stopping by a mini mart on the way to get some provisions.
