Penang Day 4 │ To Cecil Street Food Court and Back!

Breakfast @ Cecil Street!

This morning we made a concerted  effort to wake up as early as we could. Eager to atone for the disappointment of last Christmas (we tried twice but failed to have a meal at Cecil Street Food Court) we were up at half past six!

Brendan did not wish to join us on our excursion so we left the hotel at seven and took a leisure stroll along Jalan Penang before  walking across the Octopus Pedestrian Bridge and back onto Jalan Penang before turning left onto Jalan Magazine.

We then walked across onto Lebuh McNair for about a kilometer before arriving at our intended destination.

We browsed the various food stalls here before we settled on:

  • a round of drinks for RM8.00
  • Duck Meat Koay Teow Th'ng for RM7. 00
  • Western breakfast for RM6.50
  • Chee Cheong Fun for RM4.50

Our breakfast came to a respectable RM26.00 (approximately USD/EUR6).

After breakfast we took a stroll around the cake stalls and made away with RM14.20 (approximately USD/EUR3) worth of sweet cakes.

We then made our way back to the hotel, first walking across Lebuh McNair onto Lebuh Cecil before turning right onto Jalan Gurdwara. We continued for about a kilometre before walking Jalan Dato Keramat and Jalan Macalister before continuing onto Jalan Penang.

We continued on and then walked across the Octopus Pedestrian Bridge back onto Jalan Penang. We thought of getting some pickled fruits from Chowrasta, but it was still closed. We continued on and reached the hotel at a quarter to nine.

Be sure to catch our next video as we look for something light for lunch!
