BANGKOK Day 5 │Gateway Ekkamai and Back!

Ekkamai Stroll!

We picked you up again coming back from my session with Nan at Reminisce Tattoo. We stored our newly acquired yellow submarines away at the Airbnb before immediately making an about turn out of the unit.

We walked out of Tierra Residences headed east along Soi Saeng Chan before turning left at the intersection with Soi Sukhumvit 42 now headed north.

We walked the half kilometre or so and arrived at Gateway Ekkamai ten minutes later. First order of business was to look for a thin clear sterile dressing for my dreamcatcher. The first two pharmacies drew blanks, so Cat began to browse the clothing stalls at the foyer.

She found a blouse and two dresses that she liked for THB200 each (approximately USD6/EUR5/MYR26). We then headed up to the fourth floor for dinner at the Food Lounge, Gateway Ekkamai's newly opened food court.

We browsed for a little while then got a cash card with a prepaid value of THB500 (approximately USD15/EUR14/MYR66). We then ordered:

  • Stir Fried Rice Noodle with Pork
  • Stir Fried Instant Noodle with Pork
  • Coca-Cola
  • Iced Thai Claypot Coffee

from the various stalls for a grand total of THB245 (approximately USD7/EUR 7/MYR32). After dinner we encashed the unused balance of our cash card of THB255 (approximately USD8/EUR7/MYR34).

We then headed back down to the ground floor and got a gelato each for THB200 (approximately USD6/EUR5/MYR26). We resumed our search for a thin clear sterile dressing for my dreamcatcher. Watson's did not have it but we were finally in luck at Health Up Pharmacy. We got a box of Nexcare Tegaderm containing three 'skins' for THB90 (approximately USD3/EUR3/MYR12).

We then walked out of Gateway Ekkamai and sat on a bench to finish our gelato before walking back to Tierra Residences.

Stay tuned as we truly hit Bangkok's famed malls, visiting a truly 'iconic' site!
