BANGKOK Day 5 │T-Partner Warehouse • NAN is Late!

Yellow Submarines & Dreamcatcher!

Ever since buying our yellow submarines from a Nautica clearance sale at Sogo Kuala Lumpur we were not able to find anything of the same design luggage. The yellow submarines were unique in that it had an extra handle on the top as well as an extra wheel.

Last night as Cat browsed her Instagram feed she came across a warehouse sale in Bangkok, and she spotted our yellow submarines! This morning after getting ready we went down to the front desk to ascertain the location of this warehouse sale.

They were able to determine that the warehouse was located in Ladprao. With their assistance we managed to hail a Grab car for a fare of THB183 (approximately USD5/EUR5/MYR24) to the T-Partner warehouse.

The Grab car picked us up at 10:45am and we arrived at our destination, Ladprao Chok Chai 4 forty minutes later. The T-Partner warehouse was an impressive sprawling complex filled with luggage of every shape, size, and colour.

After some time spent browsing we settled on a 24" and 29" sized luggage uncannily similar in design and colour to our yellow submarines. Without hesitate we bought these two bags for THB3,480 (approximately USD103/EUR95/MYR458).

We then hailed another Grab car for THB232 (approximately USD7/EUR 6/MYR31)to our scheduled destination of the day: Reminisce Tattoo. We were picked up at 11:55pm and spent the next quarter of an hour or so immersed in Bangkok's snarling traffic. How we miss the BTS and the MRT!

I was first introduced to Nan the tattoo artist by MC of Skin Nation Tattoo in Penang. After going back and forth with several design ideas we finally settled on a colourful dreamcatcher design on my right wrist.

Nan was a freelance artist not attached to any tattoo studio, so we arranged to meet at Reminisce Tattoo. We arrived at 12:50pm but the Grab app wrongly pinned the location, so we had to walk a short distance.

We arrived at Reminisce Tattoo, but Nan was not there yet, so we went to grab a quick bite at a local Thai restaurant across the lane. Apparently Pe Aor Tom Yum Goong has quite the reputation, so our spur of the moment pick was the right on.

We scanned their menu and settled on:

  • Mixed Tom Yum
  • Squid with Glass Noodle
  • Omelette with Mushroom
  • 2 Plain Rice
  • Iced Thai Tea with Grass Jelly
  • Iced Honey Lemon

for a total of THB520 (approximately USD15/EUR14/MYR69).

We then walked back across the lane where Nan was already waiting. She then began selecting the appropriate size as well as placement before generating a stencil.

Work began at 2:00pm and Nan's piece of artwork was completed three hours later. We took some photos with Nan then hailed a Grab car for a fare of THB176 (approximately USD5/EUR5/MYR23).

The Grab car (this time a comfortable yellow taxi that matched our yellow submarine!) picked us up at 5:30pm. We spent another quarter of an hour or so experiencing Bangkok's evening rush hour traffic and arrived at Tierra Residences at 6:15pm.

Stay tuned as we walk to Gateway Ekkamai to run an errand and have dinner!
