BANGKOK Day 6 │ Siam BTS and Beyond!

Mall Hopping!

I woke up at seven and continued work on our video for the next few hours. I let Cat have her beauty sleep and hit the showers at half past eight.

An hour or so later we went down to the lobby to catch the 10:00am shuttle to Gateway Ekkamai. Five minutes later we arrived and made our way up to the Ekkamai BTS station.

We then caught a train headed to Khu Kot at 10:15am and disembarked twenty minutes and seven stops later at the Siam BTS station before walking into Siam Paragon.

We headed down to the food court and as always got ourselves a cash card with a prepaid value of THB500 (approximately USD15/EUR14/MYR66).

We then went browsing around before eventually settling on:

  • Crab Fried Rice
  • Crispy Pork Rice
  • Thai Milk Tea
  • Latte
  • Khanom Bueang (Thai Crepes)
  • Eight Chinese Herbs in Longan Juice

for a grand total of THB415 (approximately USD12/EUR11/MYR55). We encashed the unused balance and began our exploration of Siam Paragon in earnest.

Turned out it was just like any other high-end mall in Kuala Lumpur. However we did get a couple bottles of local Thai perfume from the Suvarn stall. There was a buy-one-get-one-free offer, so we got a 100ML bottle of the Tiara fragrance for Cat and another 100ML bottle of Oud Enigma fragrance for moi for a grand total of THB2,190 (approximately USD65/EUR60/MYR288).

We then exited Siam Paragon and walked across the courtyard into Siam Center. We continued browsing several clothing stores, but nothing caught Cat's fancy. We then exited Siam Center then rode an escalator up to the LRT station then walked across the footbridge into the third mall, Siam Square.

Here Cat got a travel sized shower gel, body scrub as well as a body and hair mist for THB528 (approximately USD16/EUR14/MYR69) from an Yves Rocher store. We then asked and received directions to MBK  Center.

We exited Siam Square and walked along a very wide and scenic walkway before darting into Lido Connect to browse at some very trendy and hip clothing which in hindsight was more up Brendan's alley.

We exited and continued along the same pathway that we dubbed "Plastic Surgery Alley" then walked into Siamscape headed up in search of a footbridge that eventually took us across the busy Soi Phaya Thai and into MBK Center.

We spent some time browsing all three floors before exiting onto the National Stadium BTS station. We paid the Bangkok Art and Culture Center a quick whirl before heading out to catch a train to Siam BTS station one stop away.

We disembarked at Siam BTS and walked across and went caught another train headed to Kheha. Seven stops and fifteen minutes later we arrived at Ekkamai BTS station where we headed down to the Health Up Pharmacy to get more four more boxes of the Nexcare Tegaderm for THB90 each (approximately USD3/EUR3/MYR12). We're keeping stock of these thin clear sterile dressing for future projects.

Soon as we were done the 2:00pm shuttle ride arrived and so we hopped on back to Tierra Residences.
Stay tuned as we head out for a late lunch!
